New Print Ad
Posted on September 6, 2010
“I don’t do a lot of advertising, but when I do, I prefer Weddings in Houston Magazine.” (Spoken like the most interesting man in the world.)
Ok, that was corny. But it’s true. I only have one print ad, and it’s in the best local wedding magazine, Weddings in Houston. If you are planning a wedding you should go get one. Right now. Or come by my studio and I’ll give you one for free, if you just listen to a 30 minute presentation about buying a timeshare. Ok ok, no time-share pitch. Jut a free magazine. No catch.
Anyway…… my last ad layout served me well, but now it’s time for a new look, so here it is. Many thanks to Lauren and Will for being my new cover-couple. Here is the full page ad that will appear in the next issue of Weddings in Houston.

Announcing Children and Family Portraiture!
Posted on April 2, 2009
If you didn’t catch that my last announcement was an April Fools joke, because you didn’t click the link to my “portfolio”, now you know
I was definitely joking. This is a real announcement though!
I am SUPER excited to announce that I am now branching out into children and family portraiture! Many of my wedding clients are starting families and they’ve been asking me to take their children and family portraits. Just like they wanted with their wedding photography, they want portraiture that is unique and personal, so I’m here to deliver! My favorite was when Deidra asked me after her wedding, “Adam, will you do baby pictures? Don’t tell me I’m cut off!”
Another exciting announcement is that Kacie will be joining me in this new venture! She has knack for working with children and a creative eye that will allow her to create some amazing images! As always, our approach to creating images for our clients will be personal and relational, with an emphasis on capturing your family’s personality through the lens. I must note, however, than we’re not limiting ourselves to kids and families. We’ll also be shooting seniors, musicians, and anyone else who wants a great portrait made.
For a limited time we’ll be offering a great special. **$100 off your session fee, and 10% off your first print order!** Email or call me to receive specific pricing information and to learn more about the unique approach we have to portraiture! To my clients, thank you all for your support of my business, and for allowing me to be a part of your lives. I look forward to creating many more amazing images with you. And to my future clients, CALL ME! I can’t wait to meet you!

Announcing Conception Photography!
Posted on April 1, 2009
With the growing popularity of honeymoon photography, pregnancy photography, and even birthing photography the wedding photographer’s service offering has never been so comprehensive. We’re here to capture all of life’s most exciting moments, from wedding day to grandchildren. My studio, however, is always on the cutting edge of photography trends– so much that we offer services to our clients well before they become mainstream. It is this no-compromise attitude that has given birth to our newest offering– conception photography.
It seemed to us that there was a gaping hole in the services offered by the photography community. We photograph your wedding, your children, and your children’s children. We create images from the beautiful form of the pregnant woman, but we miss an important element– how that baby was made! Why this opportunity to capture such a beautiful event has escaped us for so long, we may never know, but for the discerning photography client, it is now a reality!
Conception photography is not for everyone. Trying for a baby can be difficult, sometimes taking months, and often involves several attempts a day. The amount of coverage required to finally capture that decisive moment on film (we only shoot film) can cost a considerable amount. This is why each client is custom quoted a price based on several key factors including your family history. Also, we offer an early success discount for those lucky clients that conceive in the first 3 attempts.
The images from your conception event will be tastefully displayed in a large flush-mount album. An heirloom quality book to be kept for generations, and shared with loved ones over and over again. Beautifully finished wall prints and canvas wraps are also available for you to adorn the walls of your home.
As you can tell, we are very excited about this new service, and feel it will be a huge hit! For more pricing details, and to see a sample of my portfolio, click here.

Magazines!
Posted on January 5, 2009
Well, I told you all about my first print ad a while ago, and now it’s here!
Weddings in Houston, a great magazine by the way, released their latest issue a couple weeks ago, and there I am on page 291!
And here’s the original artwork:
Also, some of my photos from Jason and Samar’s wedding were published in the latest issue of Houston Brides, put out by Modern Luxury Magazine. Sweet!
This isn’t the first wedding I’ve had published, but the first one I’ve got around to posting about
I’m also going to have a wedding the next issue of Houston Brides, so check it out again in 6 months!
That’s it. Have a great Monday! And check back this week for pictures from Josh and Leslie’s wedding, and a MONSTER post from Lindsey and Hooman’s wedding.

Weddings in Houston Magazine Ad
Posted on September 2, 2008
I spent Memorial Weekend on a lake in East Texas hanging out with a bunch of my best friends (pictures to come), among them was Chris Figat, who is the mastermind behind my branding and identity. He has helped me with everything from my logo, to my business cards, price booklets, website, blog, even my bridal show booth. Basically anything design related. When it came time to design my first print ad (a full page, full bleed ad in Weddings in Houston Magazine), I hired him to do the design, and over the weekend we put a lot of work into it and came up with a final piece.
It is amazing how the design process works. He and Kacie and I spent HOURS and HOURS discussing, sketching, writing, and arguing over what form the ad should take. At one point everyone who was there was chipping in with ideas (I have great friends, most of whom are at least semi-creative). We wanted something that would really stand out, and have a “designed” feel to it. This doesn’t mean elaborate and complicated– just that it looks professional. This is what we came up with:
It is amazing how simple it turned out after all that time spent conceptualizing, drafting, and starting all over again. You might say that all that time was wasted, but that is the secret behind great design. All the other ideas we threw out were very important clues along the trail that took us to what we were really looking for. We had a few good concepts that involved some text in the ad, but when we settled on a picture for the ad we found that the image was really able to speak for itself. The only elements we needed to add were my logo and basic contact info, which we did as minimalist as possible, consistent with my branding and style. All-in-all I think the piece is very strong, and will succeed at both portraying the kind of work I do and the style in which I do it. Mad props to Chris!
Sorry for the long post, but I know some of you designer-types would appreciate this. Have a great week!

More shots from BES
Posted on January 7, 2008
Here are some more shots from the Bridal Extravaganza Show this weekend. I brought my camera but forgot to take many pictures. Clint came over on Sunday and grabbed a few, mainly so he could lust over my D3.
Krista, another “Adam’s Ex”
A whole bunch of my current brides stopped by. It was great to see them all. Here’s Patricia in front of her engagement portrait.
Clint looks lost……
And now he looks scary….
I’m not sure what I was smirking about.

Microsoft Surface: Geeky Cool
Posted on May 31, 2007
Microsoft recently launched a site to promote their new technology product, Surface. It’s a well-done site, by the way. The technology is very, very cool, and looks to forever change the way we will interface with computers. As I browsed through the site a couple things came to mind.
1. While Microsoft seems to have come up with some very neat implementations of this technology, it seems Apple will beat them to the market with the iPhone, which will be released in June and use a seemingly identical technology for its interface. Additionally, Microsoft currently only has plans to release this for commercial use.
2. This technology was first introduced by Jeff Han at TED over a year ago. I remember seeing this video, and being totally amazed. I said to myself that this is very cool hardware, but what will make it or break it is the software that’s written to take advantage of it. It seems both Apple and Microsoft are doing just that.
3. Microsoft is primarily in the software business. While they’ve had success selling peripherals such as mice and keyboards, the fact that Apple is using a similar technology tells me that neither one of them own it, which means it is being licensed to both companies by Jeff Han, which means he will probably become very, very rich in the near future.
Jeff said of the Apple iPhone:
The iPhone is absolutely gorgeous, and I’ve always said, if there ever were a company to bring this kind of technology to the consumer market, it’s Apple. I just wish it were a bit bigger so I could really use both of my hands.
And I think he hit the nail on the head (not that the iPhone is too small). There will certainly be some great commercial applications, but people want to get this in their hands– to own a piece of this technology for themselves. I think that the first company to start bringing multi-touch interfaces to consumers is going to take the lead in this market. I for one can’t wait.
