I’m Expanding! (in staff, not physically. Not like my waist size or anything. You know what I mean.)

Posted on March 31, 2008

Many of you have met my wife, Kacie. Despite her busy-ness with school and lab commitments she always tried to make it to every meeting I had with clients, and she’s been able to meet many of you. Well, I have awesome news. Kacie has decided that graduate school is not really where her heart is, and instead she wants to help me run the business, full-time! Now she was already an integral part of my business, but now she will be the person keeping my books, helping me keep up with all my awesome clients, and making sure I show up the right place at the right time (her official title is “Adam’s Left Brain”). In addition to all that awesomeness, she will be learning to shoot with me at weddings, so we can eventually be a photography team! I’m super stoked about all this, and hope all you are too because this means you’ll get to see a lot more of my gorgeous wife!

Additionally, I am hiring a new assistant to help me with most of my weddings this year. His name is Andre, and he is a really cool guy who loves to talk and just have a good time. He’ll be helping me with technical stuff at weddings, and with lots of other odds-and-ends. You’ll love him when you meet him!

Finally, many of my former clients have met Clint, who has often come along as my second shooter. Clint is one of my best friends, an amazing photographer, and just an incredible guy. Anyway, Clint is pursuing his own photography business this year, so while I still plan on using-and-abusing him, I’ll be bringing a couple new 2nd shooters into the rotation.

That’s it for now! Look for more posts from shoots tonight and tomorrow and the rest of this week!

Because no one likes a photoblog without photos, here’s a few random shots I thought were interesting:

First two are from a random little walk-about Chris and I did downtown.

This pic is currently my laptop background. I took it with my D3 one night through my studio window. Oh yeah, I haven’t told you about the studio yet, have I? :-) Suffice it to say it’s really awesome, and I’ve already started having shoots and meeting clients there. I’ll post some pics and some more info about it soon!

Meredith and Brian’s Engagements

Posted on March 30, 2008

Meredith and Brian were one of the couples I shot during that busy weekend I told you about a couple weeks ago. I’m a little behind on everything because I’ve been sick this past week, but finally I’ve got theirs ready to post! I also have Sarah Beth’s bridals ready, from Minute Maid Park, but I have to get her permission to post them before the wedding. If not, you all will just have to wait to see her awesome portraits!

Anyway, Meredith and Brian are a super cool couple. They both go to school up in College Station and are getting married in Houston in August at the fabulous Hotel Zaza. Meredith’s also-super-cool Mom, Carol, tagged along for the shoot and just watched from a distance and offered her assistance when needed. Afterwards Kacie and I decided to be brave and take them to this “authentic” Italian restaurant that we’d never tried before. After having the waiter fully translate the menu, Brian and I both got pepperoni pizza :-) , but the girls were a little more adventurous.

We had a really fun time shooting, and I can’t wait until August!!!

I didn’t even tell him to do that!

Waiting for their train to come… :)

One of my faves… priceless experession!

Love it!!!

Julie and Brent’s Engagements

Posted on March 20, 2008

Julie and Brent were amazing to work with. You could tell they are totally in to each other, and we were able to capture that intimacy on film. Err, pixels…. Another Galveston shoot (which is quickly becoming one of my favorite places, despite the drive….), we got some awesome shots near The Strand and then headed to the beach. Brent is a Galvestonian (is that what you call them?), so I asked him to take us to a cool local restaurant and we ended up that this great little Greek place on the Seawall. Good times and bad-breath were had by all :-)

Catherine and Tony’s Engagements, Chapter 2

Posted on March 20, 2008

Catherine and Tony wanted two separate feels, so we did two engagement sessions for them. One a few months ago downtown, and then another shoot a couple weeks ago at Herman Park. The shoot had this really casual and warm hanging-out-in-the-park kind of feel. Can’t wait for your wedding!

Patty’s Bridals

Posted on March 17, 2008

A few weeks ago I shot Patty’s bridal portraits at the gorgeous St. Helen’s church in Pearland. She looked beautiful, and really was wonderful to work with. The church had these awesome doors that we used a lot, and a huge wall of stained-glass that was gorgeous.

For this shot I tried processing it to look like an old-timey formal portrait. I’m not sure what I think of it….

Phew. What a weekend.

No weddings this past weekend, but I did have 4 portrait sessions. We shot some amazing bridal portraits for Sarah Beth on Friday at Minute Maid Park, then I did Meredith and Brian’s engagements later that day, followed by Seth and Katie on Saturday and finally Sarah Beth and Nathan today (Sunday). All of the sessions were incredible! I get to work with the BEST clients. Needless to say I will have some serious post-processing to get done this week before I can get some on my blog. I’m really excited about all of them though. To hold you over, here is a little teaser image from tonight’s shoot with Sarah Beth and Nathan. WOW!!!!

Kim and Bryan’s Engagements

Posted on March 12, 2008

Kim and Brian and I had a great shoot in Galveston. They were a lot of fun and really, really easy to photograph. They had no problem acting naturally and having fun in front of the camera. We grabbed some really cool images in Old Galveston then rushed to the beach before we ran out of daylight. Afterwards we had great hamburgers at The Spot.

By popular demand, I’m now including more images per post. So it’s your fault if the page loads slow! :-P

My FAAAAVorite! :-)

Alana and Ryan’s Engagement

Posted on March 3, 2008

Well, we had a little bit of an adventure for their shoot a couple weeks ago. We started off at the Waterwall near the galleria, then drove to memorial park, and finally ended up downtown for night shots. It was a really great shoot!

Wanna know what they’re looking at?

Yep. That’s my car getting towed. Awesome.

After paying the tow truck guy $70 (which I’m sure he pocketed) to put my car back down, we decided to head off to greener pastures, and more available parking :-)

And finally we ended up downtown for some nightlife shots.
