Brandi’s Bridals
Posted on April 26, 2009
We took Brandi’s bridal portraits at her parents’ beautiful home in Orange, TX. After this session and two slammin’ engagement sessions, I know Brandi and Warren are going to be awesome to work with on their wedding day!
Enjoy!
I walked out the front door, turned to the left, and was like “bam!”, there’s my first shot!
LOVE this one.
Brandi’s dad really wanted these next two ![]()
Thanks for a great shoot, Brandi! See you in a few weeks!

Ultrasound video!
Posted on April 24, 2009
Kacie and I went in for her 23 week ultrasound last week. This time the baby was much more active, and we got to see him move quite a bit. He’s also quite a bit bigger, so it’s easier to make out his features. Fortunately they were able to give us a copy of the video! Unfortunately it was on VHS. Many thanks to my friend Joey at 31Films who helped me copy it to DVD. Below is an shortened version of the video. Check it out!
The video starts with a profile shot and some great images of his right foot and his hand resting on his forehead. Then at :39 you can see his heart with all four chambers pumping, folllowed by a brief glimpse of his spine. Then at :48 you’ll see him curl his fingers and start kicking and squirming around. He’s even practicing breathing. Finally, you can hear his heartbeat.
Watching him breathe was really amazing. The technician said that he is beginning to practice using his diaphram to push air in and out of his lungs, even though there is no air to breathe yet. Normally a baby starts doing this at 30 weeks, so he’s 7 weeks early. That’s my boy! I bet by the time he comes out of the womb he’ll be ready to start telling the doctors what to do! (Yes, I am already bragging about my son, and he’s not even born yet.
)
And here are some still photos
A great shot of his foot!
And him sucking his thumb ![]()
And with his hand on his forehead. Kacie said he was being dramatic. Like me. What?!?
Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend!

Callie and Casey’s Engagments
Posted on April 22, 2009
Callie and Casey are friends from church, and are in a bible study type thing Kacie and I lead. Casey recently proposed, which was awesome because the only people he told were the guys in our group, and we kept the secret! Even from our wives! When they asked me to shoot their wedding in Dallas, I was totally stoked! For the first time ever I shot in the heights, and I have to say I’m happy with what we came up with! Callie and Casey were naturals, and we took some sweet portraits! Enjoy!
Mmmm. Yummy light.
Love it!
My Favorite!!!
Way to throw the looks, Callie!
I love Casey’s smug look, and Callie’s wind-blown hair. Awesome!
WOWZERS!
Don’t worry moms and dads, i know how to do traditional too!
Thanks for an awesome shoot guys! Can’t wait until June!

Tim’s Proposal
Posted on April 22, 2009
Tim called me a few weeks ago and asked me if I was available to take pictures of his surprise proposal to his girlfriend, Lauren. Paparazzi style! Lauren thought she was going to a work-related dinner with her aunt at Brenner’s Steakhouse. Unbeknownst (yes, I just used that word) to her, Tim was already waiting in the gazebo, ring in hand, ready to pop the question!
Tim anxiously waiting for her to arrive…
At first Lauren thought there was “some creepy guy in the gazebo”, but then she recognized the creepy guy!
The question….
And the answer!
This is Lauren’s “YOU KNEW THE WHOLE TIME?!?!” look.
Tim arranged for the restaurant to provide champagne and roses.
And when all was said and done, we took a few portraits.
BA-LING!!!
Thanks Tim, for bringing me in on your little surprise! Congratulations to you both!
PS- I have to give a shout-out to my friend Matthew McMichael for letting me borrow his 70-200mm lens while Blake was using mine. Thanks man!

Danielle’s Bridals
Posted on April 13, 2009
We had originally planned to take Danielle’s bridal portraits at Royal Oaks Country Club, but got rained out at the last minute. That’s when one of my former clients, Scott Whittington, saved the day and helped us schedule a last minute shoot at Hotel Icon, where he works. Danielle was really awesome to work with! She looked beautiful, and she knew how to throw the looks! Check out some of my favorites:
My favorite, btw ![]()
Thanks for a great session, Danielle! Can’t wait until May 16th!

Graeme and Joe’s Wedding
Posted on April 11, 2009
Graeme and Joe were married at 1st Presbyterian church in the museum district, then they had a gorgeous reception at the St. Regis hotel! Cole Mark, their planner, tore it up and made sure everything went great! Events in Bloom provided the flowers/decor and did an amazing job, as usual! Check out some of my favorite shots from the wedding, and scroll down to the bottom to watch their slideshow!
Joe and the guys golfed on Friday….
And the girls started getting ready Saturday at Façade in Uptown Park.
Love it!
I LOVE this picture of the girls!
Hilarious!
I did get a shot of Graeme from the front as she came down the aisle, but I love this one of her and her escorts from behind.
Did I mention Rob with Events in Bloom does amazing work???
This might be my favorite image from the day. Joe and his mom in the background, Graeme and her brother in the foreground. Graeme’s expression speaks a thousand words.
Sparklers!!!!
Thanks for an amazing day, guys!

Brandi and Warren’s Engagements: The Sequel
Posted on April 2, 2009
Brandi and Warren and I had so much fun on their first shoot, we decided to do it again! This time at Brandi’s family home in Orange, TX. Despite a bit of wind, the weather was gorgeous, and Brandi and Warren worked it for the camera as usual! I definitely liked the second shoot because it gave me an opportunity to create some images with a very different feel from the first one. Enjoy!
