Joy’s Bridals – The Houstonian

FROM JOY
Q. Who was with you throughout the process of finding your wedding dress?
A. My mom, of course! I also brought along my godmother to one of the bridal salons. She’s like a second mom to me, and I wanted her to be there for the experience. I really wish my sister – who was my matron of honor – could have shopped with us, but she lives in San Francisco, and we looked primarily in Houston.
Q. Did you know exactly what you were looking for in a wedding dress?
A. Yes and no. I knew I definitely wanted a big, flowy bridal gown – what you envision when you think of a traditional wedding dress – but once I shopped around, there were so many different and beautiful styles. It wasn’t easy, but it made the process that much more fun! I tried on practically everything that caught my eye, and even some that I didn’t think were particularly my style just for fun. It was an unforgettable experience!
Q. How many dresses/locations had you tried before you finally found the perfect dress?
A. I went to three different bridal salons in Houston and probably tried on 15-20 dresses. I kept going back to the Rivini choice!
Q. Describe the moment you realized “this is my dress.”
A. It was an “aha!” moment. Each of the dresses I tried on were all so unique and stunning in their own ways, but at the end of the day, I found myself going back to the Rivini gown. It suited me perfectly – the organza was so lightweight, feminine, and romantic; the skirt full with lots of heaps of fabric; the flower detailing so elegant; the low-cut back; and the train of the dress so intricate and beautiful in design. I felt like a princess in it!
Q. What do you love about your dress and how does it make you feel?
A. Oops, think I answered this in the previous question! I realized “this was my dress” because I immediately fell in love with the elegance of it. It was classic but with a modern spin!
Thanks for sharing with us, Joy!
