Kimberly and Michael’s Engagements – Downtown Houston

Kimberly and Michael wanted something urban and edgy for their engagement session so we headed downtown! They were great sports when I wanted to pose them in front of a construction site :). They were naturals in front of the camera and a ton of fun to work with. Here are some of my favorites from the session, and be sure to read their responses below!

Love this one on the right.

Where did you meet?We met through Sean Brennan (a mutual friend and now a groomsman).

What was your first impression of him?

Well, let’s just say I was not Michael’s biggest fan. I did not like him AT ALL and had written him off entirely after our first encounter. (Good thing he thought otherwise!)

What was your first impression of her?

I thought she was sexy, sophisticated, and definitely someone I wanted to get to know better. I guess I paid no attention to her “cold shoulder”!

What did you do for your first date?

Michael tricked me into our first date! It was at Soma Sushi for dinner followed by Badda Bingo at Sawyer Park. He told me we were meeting a big group and he was giving me a ride, but it turned out to be just us. It was really cute.

When did you know he was the one?

I knew Michael was the one when I had come home after a particularly grueling law school final. When I walked in and dumped my stuff, he told me to calm down and go into the bathroom. He had drawn me a bath in my apartment and poured me a glass of wine. As I enjoyed my bath, he cooked us dinner. He really knew how to relax me and I knew from then on he would always know the best ways to take care of me.

When did you know she was the one?

I actually knew Kimberly was the one after our first date, but it was solidified after I severely burned my arm and she took me to the hospital. She was studying and took time out to take me there, get my prescriptions, and take care of me for more than a week.

How did he pop the question?

Michael had found a house that we wanted to be our first house in the Heights. The day we closed on the house, he brought me along to help do the final walk-through. When I walked into our future master bedroom, Michael had set up an altar of flowers in the corner. I walked over to see all of my favorite flowers -roses, stargazer lillies, calla lillies, and hydrangeas. When I turned back around, Michael was on one knee and began to tell me that he couldn’t imagine his life without me in it. After many other sweet comments from Michael and tears by me, he pulled out a stunning ring and I said yes!

What do you love the most about him?

Michael is one of the most thoughtful and caring people I have ever met. And he can always make me laugh!

What do you love the most about her?

I don’t think I can pick one thing. Everything. I really love the way Kimberly treats people in her life.

Does he have any funny quirks?

Michael NEVER stops moving. Seriously. I believe Michael is physically incapable of being completely still. Also, Michael has decided it is “cute” when I am annoyed, so he continually finds new childish things to drive me nuts. Michael also has a lot of “blonde” moments for being as brilliant as he is!

Does she have any funny quirks?

Kimberly stands on one leg like a flamingo or points her toe behind her when she puts on her make-up and cooks. She also gets the dogs all situated and comfortable and says, “there” really sweet. And when her feet get really cold, the only place she wants to put them is on me to warm them up!

What’s the secret to your happy relationship?

Good communication and the ability to forgive.

Is there anything else you would like to share? 🙂

We are so excited about our wedding, especially our fantastic photographer! We can’t wait for the big day!

Thanks Kimberly and Michael for a great session. I’m looking forward to the wedding!
