The Grove engagement photos

The Grove Engagement photos at Discovery Green

We grew up attending the same schools, both middle school and high school. After a series of ‘likes’ and ‘comments’ on posts and photos, mostly stadium shots, a well-timed Facebook message started it all.

What was your first impression of him?

‘Man, this guy really likes the Longhorns! And he has a great smile and those blue eyes!’

What was your first impression of her?

‘Beautiful’. Walked through my front door on our first date, and looked stunning.

What did you do for your first date?

We agreed to meet at Discovery Green to view a light installation and have dinner at The Grove. After dinner, we headed to Pete’s Dueling Piano bar and then to Lucky Strike. Realizing we were both adventurous, we were off to a great start!

What a surprise weekend!

The original plan: Knowing LeighAnn loves Christmas lights, Mike had planned to propose at Austin Trail of Lights, which they had attended the previous year)

What happened: The wife(pregnant) of the photographer Mike had hired was in a car accident and had Braxton-Hicks contractions(thankfully all were ok). While driving to Austin (with LeighAnn in the car), Mike was fielding texts and phones calls to schedule a new photographer. Thankfully scheduled one last minute(phew!). The following day, the couple met LeighAnn’s friend from PT school (Jace) and played a few rounds at Top Golf due to the rainy, rainy weather. On a hunch, LeighAnn checked the Trail of Lights schedule and realized that the event had been cancelled due to the weather. Once again, Mike was scurrying for a new plan. Reset, he coordinated to have the photographer meet at The Driskill Hotel and got LeighAnn there to look at the Christmas tree and decorations. And he proposed under the Christmas Tree. Unbeknownst to LeighAnn, both sets of parents were awaiting them at Perry’s Steakhouse! LeighAnn nearly walked past them in the restaurant, while she was on the phone with them! Talk about surprises!

What do you love the most about him?

Our ability to totally nerd out together and his incredible sense of adventure.

What do you love most about her?
