Downtown Houston Engagement Portraits
We are actually from the same hometown and were high school sweethearts. We parted ways to go to separate colleges and reconnected one summer when we were both back home!
It was a friend-zone start to our relationship… 🙂 He started out being nothing more than my best friend. My mom & friends sat me down one night to make a pros & cons list after telling me multiple times that we were meant to be. After seeing the long list of pros and not being able to think of any cons, I decided to give it a go.
I first saw her between classes in high school and of course noticed her natural beauty. I had some friends that had classes with her and tried to get them all to introduce me. She had a very fun and energetic presence about her that I was immediately attracted to.
It’s hard to remember, but it was more than likely going to the park followed up with ice cream. Grant was older and could drive, so the first time he picked Brittan up, her parents had a very long conversation with him. He was nervous to say the least!
Believe it or not, I knew he was probably going to be the one when we split up to go to college. I left it up to God in the hopes that our timing would be right at some point. As I look back, I think we needed a separation period to be able to grow into our own people. We continued to stay in touch and eventually fate took its course!
She has been a huge piece of my life for a long time. We had time apart for awhile throughout college but at the end of the day it seemed like the road always lead back to her. Once we reconnected, I knew we were meant to be.
We went to Vegas with friends right after Thanksgiving, and Grant did it over breakfast just the two of us. We had just bought our house a few weeks before, so it was extremely unexpected to say the least! It was an awesome November.
I love his sense of humor the most, and the way we still smile just by looking at each other. We can be in the biggest argument, and with one look we are cracking up at how crazy we sound! He is the most funny person I know.
I love how refined she is and have always been jealous of that. She is dedicated, hardworking and graceful. I love how she gives everything in her life 100% and is fully committed to whatever she is doing.
He LOVES to dance at the most unexpected of moments (i.e. grocery store, restaurants, mall, etc.). Guy has no shame.
She is very particular about organization and cleanliness. You could definitely say she is a germ freak. I like to give her a hard time about it. She is never too far away with hand-sanitizer ready to go.
Truthfully, we have had many. In growing up together, we have faced a lot of obstacles. The biggest one being at a point where we were at a huge crossroad in life – living hours from each other, different friend groups, etc., and we ultimately made a decision to finally make a commitment to each other. Each challenge has definitely made us stronger & we have come to find that we can tackle just about anything through communication, laughter, and understanding.
